About

History

The University of Kent Rowing Club (UKCRC) was founded in 1966 by a small but passionate group of students eager to bring the sport of rowing to the Canterbury campus. What began as a handful of dedicated individuals rowing on the River Stour has grown into a thriving club with a rich history of both competitive success and a strong community spirit. Over the decades, we have proudly represented the University of Kent at numerous regattas and head races across the UK, including Head of the River, British University & Colleges Sport (BUCS) Regatta.

Our mission is to foster a dynamic and inclusive environment where rowers of all abilities can thrive. We are committed to providing exceptional coaching and resources that enable our athletes to achieve their full potential, whether they are taking their first strokes or competing for national titles. We aim to promote a balanced approach to university life, encouraging our members to excel both academically and athletically while building lifelong friendships and a deep appreciation for the sport of rowing.
